Amarach is a beautiful elevated house in Tathra with stunning views of the ocean and magical Mogareeka inlet.  It is 150m from the Handsworth bridge over the Bega river- the centre of Tathra estuary fishing, windsurfing, lagoon swimming and prawning for bait.
The house, which sleeps 9, is best described as a beach house but set back on the hill overlooking the Mogareeka estuary 100m away.  It has a massive deck which affords it such an amazing view.  The image above, taken at dawn is from the Amarach deck.  Further images of the vista are displayed elsewhere on this site.  The house is 300 metres from the main Tathra beach and marine conservation park.  It backs onto the Mimosa Rocks National Park.  Because of this extraordinary location, it is a haven for wildlife and the air is filled with birdsong with the ocean in the distance.
Beside the house is Tara a lovely cabin-style dwelling which sleeps 2+2.   It has its own separate balcony and superb view over the Mogareeka estuary.
Tathra is an old whaling port which has a timeless homely and romantic feel about it.   There is always lots to do and there is a good selection of restaurants with a superb bottle shop, a post office, delicatessen, grocery stores, newsagent and fantastic butcher.  The beach (below) is beautiful, enormous, and great for beginner and intermediate surfers.
The name Mogareeka means 'two waters' and the image on the left shows the Bega river estuary separated from the ocean by a sandbar.  At least once a year the river breaks out and joins the sea.  This happened in February 2010 after a much-needed downpour.  The estuary is a great spot for relaxing. Fishing for flathead rarely disappoints and dinner can be served at the BBQ/picnic area in the Don Preo reserve adjacent to the bridge.
